Tatango is Nationwide!
Amiel Martin (http://twitter.com/amiel), one of the Tatango engineers, built this pretty cool visualization of our groups’ locations, and now that we’ve got some users, it’s getting much cooler!
Each tick represents a single zipcode that has at least one Tatango group. In the future we’ll modify it to have some way to visualize group size, but for now it’s a cool glimpse into how fast people are starting to use Tatango!

A bright idea which enhances not only convenience
but safety for the groups who use it.
Well done Tatango

Thanks for the mention.
I am looking forward to setting that up to visualize group size.

A bit off topic, but what is to ensure that any confidential IP sent through this services isn’t viewed by those internet to Tatango.com or anyone who compromised your servers?
While I believe a service such as this could be useful, I also fear that information sent through the service may be exploited to establish a competitive advantage. Is there anything that keeps a log of all the messages, or is the information insecure only when it is in your queue?
Between the following excerpts form the privacy policy, there is a pretty wide gray area that leaves the opportunity to mining the data:
“Although your privacy is very important to us, due to the existing legal and technical environment, we cannot ensure that your personally identifiable information will not be disclosed to third parties in ways not described in this policy. Additionally, we can (and you authorize us to) disclose any information about you to private entities, law enforcement or other government officials, as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate to address or resolve inquiries or problems.”
“Any information sent to Tatango for text messaging and or storage purposes will remain the property of the account holder, which Tatango will hold securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law. Tatango will take reasonable measures to protect your personal information with security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, through the use of technological measures (e.g., firewalls, passwords, encryption) and training of employees. Tatango will at no time collect or redistribute this information without your consent, except where legally required to do so by law.”

In terms of someone gaining a competitive advantage, we are confused what you are asking. The only person reading your messages are the people that opt-in to your group, no one else has access to read your messages. We are required to hold logs of messages sent, opt-ins and replies both for your user experience (so you can review replies and past messages) and to comply with carrier requests in terms of having documentation of every group opt-in.
Does this answer your question?
